HIKING AND SNOWSHOEING
Join this fun and active group for hiking and snowshoeing around the scenic Grand Valley and the Grand Mesa. Hikes are easy-going, reasonably paced and typically 3-5 miles. They are either a loop or out-and-back, usually with less than 200 feet of elevation increase.
Typically, we meet at a location and carpool to the trailheads. We often hike up on the Grand Mesa during the summer and snowshoe during the winter. Cross-country skiers are welcome to join us as well. We meet every Thursday at 8:45 a.m. weather permitting to finalize plans and decide on carpools and depart at 9 am.
Our next hike –
The last several hikes were time consuming, so it is time for an easier hike. This Thursday, October 3, the hike will be around Corn Lake (Formally called James Robb) Temperature will be about 70+- F and sunny. You should see waterfowl. It is level and you will walk a distance of 2 miles with a time of 1 hour, (or maybe some more time if you wish).
Meet in Clifton, at the Corn Lake parking lot at 9:00. From 32 road go South to about where 32 Rd. becomes Colorado 141 (Near D Rd) turn right into the parking lot. You will be near a large building.
I am still open for hiking suggestions or volunteer leaders. I have the recipe for the wonderful granola bars that we had on the Grand Mesa leaf walk if anyone wants me to send it out. Thanks Roxanne.
