Newcomers Dinner Club
Dinner Club has wrapped up a year of good food, conversation and company. Now it’s time for members to look through recipe files, pick out some favorites and send them along with their dues for next season. Other Newcomers are encouraged to join as regular or substitute members.
Dinner Club meets once a month September through May. The entire group, including substitutes, meets three times (September, December and May). Other months the regular members meet as small groups in host homes for a sit-down dinner. The committee plans the menu and makes host-guest assignments. All members receive menus and recipes by email.
Our first all-member dinner will be Saturday evening, Sept. 13. Details will be provided later.
GUIDELINES
Ö You must be a Newcomers Club member.
Ö Substitute members may be called upon as guests as needed.
Ö Dinner is usually the second Friday of the month.
Ö You host a table of 8 twice a year (single members, once).
Ö Host/hostess provides the entrée, wine, coffee, bread and an extra side dish if needed.
Ö Menu, recipes and guest list are sent out ten days before the dinner. Hostess contacts guests to assign recipes and give directions to their home.
Ö If you cannot attend any dinner, notify a committee member immediately so a substitute can be arranged. If, after confirming, you cannot attend, notify your hostess immediately so a substitute can be found. If it’s within three days of the dinner you are responsible for preparation and delivery of your assigned dish.
Send five “tried and true” recipes along with a check for dues ($10 single/$18 couple) payable to Janet Johnson by Aug. 15. Include an appetizer, salad, vegetable, main dish and dessert recipe. Brunch-appropriate recipes are appreciated. Please type each on a separate page with your name on each.
Committee members are Betty Berg, 242-3104, Irene Bladow, 242-0152, Janet Johnson, 858-1558, Betty Toth, 263-9031, Carolyn White, 549-0439.
